Hershey Campground Resort Details
Hersheypark has three different lodging options. The Hotel Hershey, Hershey Lodge, and the Hersheypark Camping Resort.
Each resort has it’s own unique qualities and Hersheypark Camping Resort was great.
Our visit to Hersheypark was part of our countdown to Christmas this year. The kids knew that morning that we would be visiting Hersheypark but they were so surprised when they saw where we were staying.
We had reservations for a 2 Bedroom Deluxe cabin. The cabin comes equipped with heat and water, as well as a kitchen with microwave and coffee maker. When visiting the Hersheypark Camping Resort you need to remember a few things from home.

- Coffee and Filters
We stayed for one night and it was really nice to have our own sheets and blankets for the night. It was cozy and a little home away from home.
I found the easiest way to pack was to use large plastic totes. It made for easy storage in the car and easy to bring into the cabin.
The kids loved staying at the cabin. I think we forget sometimes that they need unscheduled time. I often try to keep them busy because 3 kids in a hotel room can get a little crazy.
At Hershey campground this wasn’t an issue. They had so much fun playing in the cabin and in their own room.
They also went outside to run around and explore. It was a well needed break after our road trip.
During the summer months Hersheypark Camping Resort has daily activities. In the winter, when we visited, the activities are limited- but they did have a letter to Santa station for the kids.
We wrote our letters and picked up our response the next day. They also had Christmas packets to color. I purchased crayons from the on-site store.
After we checked in, we were ready to visit Hersheypark Christmas Candylane. The Hershey campground offers a shuttle to and from the park that runs about every 30 minutes.
We drove because we were going to see Sweet Lights after our visit to the park.
What to Expect at Hersheypark Campground Resort
Guests staying at Hersheypark Campground Resort have a free shuttle to the park as well as early entry hours for resort guests.
There are 2 on-site pools and a kiddie pool that is open seasonally. As well as an indoor game room and on-site daily resort activities.
Why Staying at Hershey Campground Was Perfect for Our Hersheypark Christmas Candylane Visit
Hersheypark Christmas Candylane is a special event at Hersheypark on select dates in November and December.
There is something special about the park bright with lights and Christmas music playing. Christmas at Hersheypark is a great way to celebrate the holidays with your family.
Staying at the Hershey campground may it feel cozy and special for our Christmas countdown celebration. It had a feeling of home and we all really appreciated it after a long day.
During Hersheypark Christmas Candylane there are a few special events you and your family can enjoy. They are:
- Noel-This is a Christmas light show set to music.
- A Music Box Christmas: The Enchanted Journey
- Visit with Santa
- Santa’s Reindeer Stable
- Rudolph’s Skating Pond (Fee)
- Cookie Workshop (Fee)
One of my favorite activities is to watch Noel. I love the holiday lights and Christmas music and it gets me in the holiday spirit. This year we splurged on a King Size Milkshake to enjoy and it was so tasty!! Yum!!
Things to Know During Your Visit:
- Plan your visit ahead of time and look at the map to see where the special events are located.
- Expect the parks to be busy. We were surprised by how crowded the parks were and with limited rides open it made for some long lines.
- Take advantage of early entry the night before your ticket. If you are visiting the park on Saturday you can enter the park on Friday 2.5 hours before park close. This is really helpful to avoid long wait times for rides.
- Using your early entry: Visit the holiday attractions the night before and start the next day riding the rides.

We all appreciated the feeling of home and being able to spread out a little at the cabin. It was all the comforts of home.
The next day the kids were up exploring the yard and finding rocks, while my husband and I packed up.
We also stopped by the playground and picked up our letters from Santa. He wrote back and his letters were waiting for us at the registration office.
Our last stop was to Hershey Chocolate World to ride the factory tour and watch the 4D show. We have a family tradition of riding the Hershey Factory Tour every visit to Hershey, PA.
Hershey Chocolate World is located adjacent to Hersheypark and is a great place to include in your visit. Arrive early because it gets busy.
