We love to plan day trips around Rochester or morning hikes, but our favorite fall family traditions is to go apple picking.
Apple picking signifies the start of fall for our family. We love heading to the many apple farms around Rochester. It is a great place for family photos, and to create awesome family memories.

G and S Orchards
G and S Orchards is a no frills place to pick your fruits and vegetables. You will not find any farm activities but, you will pick great apples for the season. This is one of our favorite places to visit for apple picking every fall.
G and S Orchards has a wide variety of options for apples, and other fruits and vegetables. I suggest checking out their website before you visit to see what is in season for picking.
You pick apples have currently started but you can check the website to find out when your favorite type of apple is ready for picking.
Green Acre U-Pick and West Wind Fruit Farm
Green Acre U-Pick and West Wind Fruit Farm offer two locations: Rochester and Hilton. The Hilton location offers New York state apple picking. You can also visit Blue Barn Cidery their on-site cider hard cider spot.
Wickham Farms
Wickham Farms is an apple farm located in Penfield, NY. It offers fall family activities as well as u-pick apple orchards. The cost is $10.95 per person over 3 and that includes 1/2 peck apple bag. The price does not include access to the barnyard activities but you can bundle the offers.
The Barnyard activities include a jumping pillow, play areas, mini-golf, and corn maze. Wickham Farms has different events throughout the season as well as specialty food options.

Whittier
Whittier Fruit Farm is another farm that focuses on the fruit. Apples are purchased by the pound and you can also pick berries and pumpkins seasonally.
Schutts Apple Mill
Schutts Apple Mill has the best fried cake doughnuts and I had to add it to this list of apple picking places. They have apples, cherries, and raspberries available to pick.
I felt it was worth a visit this fall because of the fresh fried cakes and apple cider. If you want to enjoy some of the best fall treat you definitely want to visit Schutts this year!
Victor Apple Farm
Victor Apple Farm is located in Victor, NY and offers a great locations for families to enjoy the season and pick apples together.
They have a bakery and market gift shop that sells local goods. On select days they have live music and entertainment.
Now that you have all these delicious apples what do you do with them. As a family of five we tend to eat them pretty quickly and don’t usually have a lot leftover.
